Position Summary
The Aftercare amp; Summer Camp Director provides year-round leadership for Nashville Christian School's extended care and summer camp programs. This position oversees the daily operations, staffing, safety, budgeting, licensing compliance, programming, and parent communication for the Aftercare Program during the school year (10 months) and Camp Eagle Pride during the summer (2 months).
The Director creates safe, engaging, Christ-centered environments that extend the mission of Nashville Christian School beyond the traditional school day while ensuring all state licensing requirements, school policies, and operational procedures are met.

Position Schedule
School Year (10 Months)
Aftercare Director
Monday-Friday
- Regular School Days:
- 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
- School Break Programs:
- Flexible 8-hour schedule between 7:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
Summer (2 Months)
Summer Camp Director
- Monday–Friday
- 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., working with other camp leadership to ensure leadership is present 7am-6pm.
Essential Responsibilities
Year-Round Leadership Responsibilities
The Director will:
Leadership amp; Administration
- Recruit, hire, onboard, supervise, and evaluate program staff.
- Build positive team culture through coaching and professional development.
- Schedule staff and ensure appropriate staffing ratios.
- Maintain employee records, time sheets, and payroll documentation.
- Manage annual operating budgets and expenditures.
- Order and maintain supplies and equipment.
- Develop policies, procedures, and operational systems.
- Coordinate with school administration regarding program needs.
- Maintain all required documentation for licensing and compliance.
- Ensure CPR/First Aid certification requirements are maintained.
- Organize required staff training.
Communication
- Serve as the primary contact for parents.
- Resolve concerns professionally and promptly.
- Maintain program communications including newsletters, website updates, forms, and registration materials.
- Collaborate with faculty, administration, and office staff.
Safety amp; Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all Tennessee Department of Education licensing requirements.
- Maintain accurate attendance and student records.
- Conduct required emergency drills.
- Complete accident, injury, medication, and incident documentation.
- Coordinate annual inspections and licensing visits.
- Ensure safe environments and appropriate supervision of students.
School-Year Responsibilities
Aftercare Program Director (10 Months)
Program Management
- Oversee daily aftercare operations.
- Develop engaging after-school programming.
- Supervise students and staff.
- Develop and implement behavior intervention plans.
- Communicate regularly with families.
Administrative Duties
- Bill families for aftercare services.
- Manage registration for:
- Fall Break Care
- Christmas Break Care
- Spring Break Care
- Parent Conference Days
- Middle School Exam Care
- Coordinate sign-ups with school administration.
- Maintain attendance and enrollment records.
- Submit staff schedules and payroll information.
Compliance
- Conduct:
- Monthly fire drills
- Quarterly tornado drills
- Quarterly lockdown drills
- Coordinate required state observations.
- Meet annually with health inspectors.
Summer Responsibilities
Camp Eagle Pride Director (2 Months)
Camp Leadership
- Plan, organize, and oversee all summer camp operations.
- Develop weekly activity schedules.
- Coordinate field trips and transportation logistics.
- Assign daily responsibilities to camp staff.
- Supervise all camp programming.
- Monitor camper behavior and implement appropriate interventions.
- Ensure appropriate staff-to-camper ratios.
- Maintain accurate attendance and sign-in/sign-out records.
Parent Communication
- Serve as the primary contact for camp families.
- Address questions and concerns before and during camp.
- Communicate incidents and health concerns promptly.
Safety
- Administer medications.
- Provide basic first aid.
- Complete accident and injury reports.
- Ensure incident documentation is signed by parents.
- Conduct required emergency drills.
- Maintain safe supervision during all on-campus and off-campus activities.
Program Evaluation
- Evaluate camp effectiveness.
- Recommend improvements for future programming.
- Work with administration on budgeting and planning for future camps.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum age of 21.
- Previous leadership experience in childcare, education, aftercare, recreation, or summer camp.
- Experience supervising staff.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain before employment).
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to meet all state licensing and background check requirements.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation Management, Social Work, or related field.
- Two or more years of experience directing childcare or camp programs.
- Experience with budgeting, scheduling, billing, and state licensing compliance.
Physical Requirements
- The employee must regularly:
- Stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Supervise students during physical activities and field trips.
- Respond quickly in emergency situations.
