Full Time Receptionist Summary
The Receptionist provides telephone and front desk coverage for NLG's School Program at 10 Oak Park Drive. You’ll be the first friendly face people meet and an essential part of our daily operations.
Full Time Receptionist Responsibilities
Receptionist responsibilities include:
- Welcoming and directing visitors
- Answering and routing incoming calls; responding to messages
- Communicating with parents/guardians, school districts, and transportation companies
- Maintaining student files per DESE requirements and completing filing tasks as needed
- Maintaining student, parent, and staff data and records
- Opening/distributing incoming mail; preparing outgoing mail and arranging package pick-ups
- Keeping the lobby and reception areas tidy and organized
- Providing general administrative assistance as needed
- Arriving promptly at 8:00am and staying through 4:00pm
- Following NLG’s emergency procedures, including SOLVE strategies, First Aid, or CPR when necessary (training provided)
Full Time Receptionist Qualifications
The ideal candidate is:
- Outgoing, pleasant, well-spoken, and welcoming
- Detail-oriented, flexible, and a team player
- Comfortable with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- A high school graduate
- Willing and able to complete required trainings in SOLVE, First Aid, and CPR
- SOLVE introductory course (16–20 hours) provided within the first 3 months
- Annual 1.5-hour refresher provided
- Able to pass required background checks, including CORI
Physical Job Capabilities
Because the temporary receptionist supports a school serving students with autism and complex needs, physical readiness is required. This may include:
- Staying physically close to keep students safe, if needed
- Safely implementing crisis-prevention techniques, including supporting or restraining students between 50–125 lbs
- Quick, abrupt upper and lower body movements
- Rotating torso movements
- Grasping, lifting, lowering, and repeated bending
- Maintaining balance and sustaining exertion for short periods
- Remaining in one position for extended timeframes when needed
All training for crisis-prevention strategies is provided by NLG.
