Paraprofessional- 26/27 Job CoachA Transition Academy Job Coach supports students with disabilities as they prepare for life after high school by developing academic, vocational, social, and independent living skills. Students range from 18-22.Position Title: Transition Academy Job Coach (anticipated 2 positions for the 26-27 school year)Department: Student Services Reports To: Building Principal, Director of Student Services, and Transition TeacherEmployment Status: 25 hour part time positionJoin a team dedicated to helping young adults build meaningful futures. As a Transition Job Coach with the Narragansett Transition Academy, you'll empower students with disabilities to develop the vocational, social, and independent living skills they need for success beyond high school. Working alongside students in classrooms, workplaces, and throughout the community, you'll serve as a mentor, coach, and advocatehelping them build confidence, achieve employment goals, and discover their strengths.

Working collaboratively with teachers, employers, families, and related service providers, Job Coaches provide individualized instruction and support in school, community, and workplace settings to help students achieve their transition and employment goals.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide individualized job coaching and vocational training to students in school and community-based work settings.Teach and reinforce job-specific skills, workplace expectations, communication, problem-solving, and appropriate social interactions.Support students in developing independence, self-advocacy, and work-readiness skills while gradually fading assistance as appropriate.Monitor student performance, provide constructive feedback, and communicate progress to teachers and transition staff.Assist students with community access, and workplace routines as appropriate.Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment while ensuring student well-being in community and employment settings.Build and maintain positive relationships with employers, school staff, families, and community partners to support successful work experiences.Maintain accurate documentation, confidentiality, and records related to student participation and progress.Adapt to changing student needs, work environments, and schedules with flexibility, patience, and professionalism.Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or administrator.Knowledge, Skills, and AttributesPassion for helping students discover their strengths and achieve meaningful post-secondary employment and independent living goals.Ability to motivate, encourage, and support students while fostering confidence and independence.Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to work collaboratively with diverse students, staff, employers, and families.Commitment to creating positive, inclusive experiences that prepare students for lifelong success.QualificationsAssociate degree or completion of two years of college coursework in education, human services, rehabilitation, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience working with individuals with disabilities or transition-age youth may be considered.Experience working with adolescents or young adults in educational, vocational, community-based, or employment settings is preferred.Knowledge of transition services, workplace expectations, and strategies for supporting individuals with diverse learning needs is preferred.Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Ability to build positive relationships with students, employers, staff, families, and community partners.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and appropriate documentation.Basic computer and technology skills.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 2550 pounds, as required.Ability to assist students with mobility and daily living activities when necessary.Ability to accompany and supervise students in school, community, and workplace settings.Ability to travel between school and community-based employment sites, when applicable.Work EnvironmentWork is performed in classrooms, school buildings, community locations, and employment sites. The position involves frequent interaction with students, employers, school staff, and community members and may require travel within the district. The work environment may include varying temperatures, noise levels, and occasional behavioral challenges.Duties may be modified by the school district based on operational needs under the Director of Student Services.
