Role and Responsibilities


Travel Expectations:
Employees in this position must be willing and able to travel between all three clinic locations; Anchorage, Big Lake, and Kenai, as needed to support staffing, operational coverage, and patient care needs.

  1. Schedule physical examinations and laboratory tests for patients.
  2. Assist the Medical Director in the delivery of services to patients.
  3. Assist the Patient Care Coordinator in the delivery of medical services to patients.
  4. Administer, secure and inventory methadone.
  5. Follow all DEA regulations, federal regulations, state regulations and CARF accreditation standards.
  6. Report and/or document the effects of the medication that is administered to the supervisor.
  7. Maintain patient electronic health record, including uploading and scanning all correspondence and laboratory results and relevant information.
  8. Complete documentation for patient enrollments.
  9. Monitor the urine drug screening process of patients.
  10. Provide continual health, first aid and emergency medical treatment for patients and staff.
  11. Review educational handouts about methadone treatment for new patients.
  12. Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and case conferences.
  13. Document nurses notes in EHR/EMR.
  14. Coordinate care for incarcerated patients.
  15. Monitor the departments inventory needs and communicate with the Patient Care Coordinator.
  16. Maintain the urine drug screen electronic records system.
  17. Maintain the Lab Corp electronic records system.
  18. Collect blood specimens as ordered by Medical Director or his designee.
  19. Complete EKGs as ordered by Medical Director or his designee.

  20. Document weekly weight and blood pressure for pregnant patients.
  21. Facilitate access to appropriate and necessary services for patients.
  22. Provide outreach services necessary to help the patients obtain benefits to which they may be entitled.
  23. Provide linkage between patients needs and appropriate services and community resources.
  24. Release personal information for a State of Alaska criminal background check.

Must be cleared and eligible for hire as determined by the State of Alaska, Division of Behavioral Health.

25. Other duties as assigned.

26. The expectations for quality and quantity of work will be re-evaluated at each annual review.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  1. Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Alaska.
  2. A valid Alaska Drivers license.
  3. Preferably one year experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting.


Job Responsibilities Related To Patient Privacy

  1. Employees are expected to protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with NDTCs privacy policies, procedures, and applicable federal and state laws. Compliance with these policies is a condition of employment, and violations may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
  2. Access to protected health information (PHI) is limited to what is necessary to fulfill job duties. PHI may only be shared with individuals who require the information to perform their job functions related to treatment, payment, or other operational purposes.
  3. Employees are encouraged and expected to report any concerns regarding privacy practices or violations of NDTCs policies to the designated HIPAA Compliance Officer, without fear of retaliation.
  4. Employees are required to participate in HIPAA training and to communicate NDTCs privacy policies to coworkers, patients, and others as appropriate.
