Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and check them in efficiently using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Schedule appointments accurately while managing the clinic’s calendar with professionalism and attention to detail
- Answer multi-line phone systems with courteous phone etiquette, providing clear information and directing calls appropriately
- Collect and process payments, perform medical collections, and handle insurance verifications using health insurance knowledge including Medicare and HIPAA compliance
- Maintain organized medical records, review documentation for accuracy, and ensure confidentiality in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies
- Assist with medical billing by coding procedures using CPT codes, ICD-9/10 diagnosis codes, and verifying insurance claims
- Support clinical staff by preparing care plans, reviewing documentation, and managing electronic health records (EHR) management tasks
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental or medical office setting is preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical billing procedures including ICD coding and CPT coding preferred
- Experience with health information management practices including filing, documentation review, and electronic health records management
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone and in person while maintaining professionalism at all times
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to better serve diverse patient populations
- Familiarity with office administrative support tasks such as typing (including 10 key typing), filing, Microsoft Office applications, and general clerical experience
