Job DescriptionEnvironmental Science Teacher (1.0)Cyrus Peirce SchoolNantucket Public SchoolsJob Summary: Nantucket Public Schools seeks [1] dynamic Environmental Science Teacher at Cyrus Peirce Middle School (grade 8) for the 2026-27 academic year. We have adopted OpenSciEd and this course includes the environmental science units from across grades 6-8. The successful candidate will have experience facilitating learning of disciplinary core ideas through engagement in the science and engineering practices. He/She will also promote learning and growth of each student by facilitating high-quality learning experiences, utilizing meaningful student assessments to inform instruction, differentiating instruction, and maintaining a safe and effective learning environment.Minimum Requirements: Knowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks (Science and Technology/Engineering)Bachelors DegreeMA certification or the ability to be certified in General Science (5-8)Ideal Candidate: Experience in middle school science teaching Passion for teaching scienceStrong knowledge of how to design instruction for three dimensional learning in scienceAbility to assess learning using a variety of methodsStrong foundation in student-centered and culturally responsive pedagogyKnowledge of differentiated instruction and response to interventionExcellent classroom management skillsSEI endorsementAbility to collaborate with teachers and administrators
