The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) has a new opportunity for a Manager – Strategic Communications Operations & Project Management in our Strategic Communications Department. This role will serve as the operational engine of the Strategic Communications department. This role combines project management, operational leadership, and senior‑level executive support to ensure disciplined intake, prioritization, execution, and reporting across all communications functions. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Strategic Communications, this role enables the department to operate efficiently and consistently while supporting leadership with day‑to‑day coordination, planning, and follow‑through.
Essential functions of the position include:
Operations & Project Management
- Responsible for department‑wide intake, prioritization, and visibility of work across project management platforms such as Microsoft Planner, Asana, and Teams.
- Establish and maintain project management standards, workflows, reporting cadences, and operational documentation.
- Manage timelines, milestones, and dependencies across Strategic Communications initiatives, including cross‑functional work with membership, advocacy, events, education, and external partners.
- Track capacity, identify risks, and proactively resolve resource or timeline conflicts.
- Drive continuous process improvement, reduce cycle times, and document playbooks and best practices that support scalability and consistency.
Performance, Data & Reporting
- Build and maintain dashboards and performance reporting across communications channels and initiatives.
- Track and report on deliverables, deadlines, and outcomes to support leadership decision‑making, prioritization, and accountability.
- Support adoption and optimization of communications and project management tools, including Higher Logic, Feathr, and Microsoft 365 tools.
- Manage department shared folders and materials.
Executive & Administrative Support
- Provide high‑level administrative and coordination support to the SVP – Strategic Communications, including calendar management, meeting coordination, agenda preparation, travel coordination, and follow‑up.
- Manage logistics, materials, and action‑item tracking for leadership meetings, planning sessions, and cross‑departmental reviews.
- Support departmental organization, record‑keeping, and internal communications to ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Serve as a central point of coordination between Strategic Communications and internal teams, vendors, agencies, and external partners.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with staff, and external contacts.
- Support special projects and additional initiatives as assigned in support of departmental and organizational priorities.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in operations, project management, communications support, executive support, or related roles.
- Demonstrated experience managing workflows, deadlines, and cross‑functional initiatives.
- Proficiency with modern workplace and project management tools such as Microsoft 365, Asana, and Teams. Working knowledge of Higher Logic and Feathr and/or other marketing platforms.
- Strong project and operations management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent organizational, time‑management, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment when supporting executive leadership.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check and must possess an acceptable MVR.
