Overview
NAMI Southeast Louisiana is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Development Director to lead our fundraising and relationship-building efforts, fueling the growth and sustainability of our organization. This pivotal role plays a critical role in securing financial support through donor engagement, corporate partnerships, and special events. The Development Director works closely with the Executive Director, Management Team, Board of Directors and key stakeholders to enhance financial sustainability of NAMI Southeast Louisiana while ensuring alignment with its mission to support individuals and families affected by mental illness.
The ideal candidate will bring a passion for nonprofit management, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record in securing grants, donations, and sponsorships.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Donor Development:
· Develop and execute a comprehensive annual fundraising plan, including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, and special events.
· Cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners.
· Identify and secure new funding opportunities, including major gifts and recurring giving programs.
· Oversee donor database management, ensuring accurate tracking, acknowledgment, and reporting of contributions.
· Work collaboratively with department directors and staff to identify program funding needs and support organizational grant efforts.
Event Planning & Community Engagement:
· Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising and community engagement events, including budgeting, logistics, sponsorship acquisition, marketing, and volunteer coordination.
· Develop event timelines and oversee vendor and venue contracts.
· Assess event effectiveness, compile post-event reports, and recommend improvements for future initiatives.
Marketing & Communications:
· Collaborate with the marketing team to develop fundraising campaign materials, event promotions, and donor engagement strategies.
· Represent NAMI Southeast Louisiana at networking events, public engagements, and media opportunities.
Board & Volunteer Engagement:
· Work closely with the Board of Directors and Development Committee to support fundraising, donor outreach, and grant initiatives.
· Engage and train volunteers to assist with fundraising and event activities.
· Provide regular development updates and reports to the Executive Director and Board.

Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
· 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, and grant writing.
· Proven track record of securing grants and meeting fundraising goals.
· Strong event planning, project management, and budgeting skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling grant proposals and donor appeals.
· Proficiency in donor management and grant tracking software.
· Passion for mental health advocacy and the mission of NAMI Southeast Louisiana.
· Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
