Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Lead Carpenter role based in Bethany Beach, DE and surrounding areas. The Lead Carpenter will oversee and perform daily carpentry work on custom residential projects, including layout, framing, and finish carpentry. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting plans, coordinating tasks with subcontractors and crew members, and ensuring work meets quality, safety, and building code standards. The role involves using hand tools and power tools, troubleshooting site issues, and recommending practical construction solutions. The Lead Carpenter will also help plan project sequencing, track progress, and mentor less-experienced carpenters to maintain efficient, well-organized job sites.
Qualifications
- Strong general Carpentry skills, with experience leading work on custom residential projects.
- Proficiency with Framing and structural carpentry, including layout, wall systems, and roof systems.
- Skilled in Finish Carpentry, including trim, cabinetry installation, doors, and interior/exterior details.
- Safe and confident use of Hand Tools and Power Tools commonly used in residential construction.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
- Proven experience supervising field teams, coordinating with subcontractors, and maintaining a safe job site.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
- Reliable transportation to Bethany Beach, DE and surrounding area job sites and ability to perform the physical requirements of the role.
- Several years of residential carpentry experience; prior lead or foreperson experience is highly preferred.
- OSHA or similar safety training and relevant trade certifications are a plus.
