Department: Admissions Position Title: Admissions Counselor FLSA Status: Exempt Reports to: Director of Admissions Summary The Admissions Counselor is responsible for generating applications and nurturing applicants to enrollment from an assigned territory or market segment. The Admissions Counselor works to achieve market segment goals by nurturing relationships with prospective students and their families, representing the college at on and off campus events, and ensuring efficient and timely execution of processes necessary to admit and enroll student applicants. Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage the assigned applicant portfolio in order to achieve annual targets for new student enrollment.
- Execute contact strategies in order to nurture student inquiries and applicants to first time enrollment.
- Staff campus visit events at the direction of the Campus Visit Coordinator and Director of Admissions.
- Develop and/or deliver presentations designed to inform audiences about William Jewell College or presentations designed to inform audiences about topics pertinent to college search and career or major choice to potential student audiences in the high school or community college setting.
- Manage an assigned territory in such a way as to generate strong awareness of William Jewell College and achieve annual targets for constituent engagement.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Prefer 1 year of experience in college admissions or in a sales environment.
- Commitment to higher education.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently.
- Normal working/office hours required.
- Occasional night and/or weekend work will be required.
- Occasional local travel.
