Direct Care Staff

NAFI Connecticut provides programs, consultation, and support services in a variety of settings across Connecticut, New York and Rhode Island. We work with adults, children, and families to increase communication and social skills, improve relationships, increase circles of support, and provide therapeutic services based on best-practice research. We believe that people can change, and we work to empower each individual in their own care.

We are currently seeking Direct Care Staff to assist individuals to be as independent as possible. Highly trained support staff are available to assist residents with household management, activities of daily living, recreation and leisure planning, employment opportunities, and safety skills. The program prides itself on promoting personal growth, maximizing each individual’s level of independence, and fostering community integration.

Responsibilities Include:

• Support residents with activities of daily living, household routines, and personal care as needed

• Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment at all times

• Support youth in developing life skills, independence, and positive coping strategies

• Support in grocery shopping, doctor appointment, recreation, socialization, laundry, and cleaning

• Follow all agency policies, procedures, and mandated reporting requirements

• Participate in required trainings, staff meetings, and supervision

Desired Qualifications: 

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred

• Ability to support youth with activities of daily living, safety skills, and community integration

• Strong communication, problem-solving, and de-escalation skills

• Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and follow program policies and procedures

• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

• Ability to pass required background checks, trainings, and certifications

Hourly Rate:  $22.00 per hour
