The Land & Lease Administration Analyst role is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate records of the company’s leasehold, mineral interests, and contractual obligations. This position supports land, accounting, and operations teams by ensuring timely tracking of lease terms, payments, obligations, and compliance with agreements.
Key Responsibilities
Lease & Contract Management
- Maintain and administer oil and gas leases, assignments, farmouts, JOAs, AMIs, and other land agreements
- Track key lease terms including expiration dates, continuous development obligations, depth severances, and retained acreage provisions
- Monitor and calendar critical deadlines (renewals, rentals, shut-in payments, drilling obligations)
Ownership & Title Support
- Maintain internal records of working interest, net revenue interest, and burden data
- Support title review efforts and coordinate with landmen, attorneys, and title vendors
- Track changes in ownership due to acquisitions, divestitures, and trades
Payments & Financial Coordination
- Coordinate with accounting on lease bonuses, delay rentals, shut-in payments, and other land-related disbursements
- Review division orders and assist with ownership decks where needed
- Ensure compliance with payment obligations under leases and agreements
Data & Systems Management
- Maintain land system data with a high degree of accuracy
- Upload and organize lease documents, title opinions, and related records
- Generate reports related to lease status, expirations, and obligations
Operational Support
- Work closely with drilling and development teams to track activity needed to hold acreage
- Provide lease and ownership data for permitting, AFE preparation, and well planning
- Assist with due diligence efforts for acquisitions and divestitures
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with lease terms and contractual obligations
- Identify potential risks related to expirations, title defects, or missed obligations
- Support internal audits and data verification efforts
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3–10 years of experience in land administration or lease administration
Technical Skills
- Experience with data management in land systems
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management software or concepts
- Familiarity with oil and gas terminology, contracts, and title concepts
