Experienced Parts Specialist – Diesel & Automotive

N8V Diesel & Heavy Equipment
Muskogee, OK Full Time
POSTED ON 9/13/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 1/10/2027

N8V Diesel & Heavy Equipment is seeking an experienced Parts Specialist to support our growing diesel, heavy-equipment, and automotive repair operation.

This is not simply a counter-sales position. We need someone who understands how a well-run parts department directly affects technician productivity, job turnaround time, customer satisfaction, and shop profitability.

Compensation

$20–$24 per hour, depending on automotive, diesel, and heavy-duty parts experience.

Performance Bonus: $250–$500 per month

A formal performance and compensation review will be completed after the first 90 days.

Performance bonuses are based on measurable results, including:

  • Parts availability and technician support
  • Inventory accuracy
  • Core tracking and recovery
  • Control of emergency and expedited freight
  • Parts gross margin performance
  • Reduction of incorrect and duplicate parts orders
  • Timely returns and warranty processing
  • Overall organization and efficiency of the parts operation

Responsibilities

The Parts Specialist will be responsible for managing the parts process from technician request through job completion.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Identify and source automotive, medium-duty, heavy-duty, diesel, and equipment parts
  • Research parts using VINs, serial numbers, engine information, OEM catalogs, and cross-reference systems
  • Obtain competitive pricing and availability from multiple vendors
  • Order parts while balancing cost, availability, freight, and job urgency
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of commonly used parts and shop supplies
  • Receive, inspect, organize, and properly assign incoming parts
  • Ensure technicians have the correct parts available when needed
  • Track backorders and communicate potential job delays
  • Manage cores and ensure eligible cores are returned for credit
  • Process incorrect, damaged, unused, and warranty parts returns
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts and investigate discrepancies
  • Control unnecessary emergency freight and expedited shipping
  • Help maintain appropriate parts margins
  • Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships
  • Keep the parts department, storage areas, and inventory organized
  • Coordinate closely with service staff and technicians throughout each repair

What We're Looking For

We strongly prefer candidates with previous experience in a professional parts environment.

Relevant backgrounds include:

  • Heavy-duty truck parts
  • Diesel repair parts
  • Automotive parts
  • Heavy equipment parts
  • Fleet maintenance
  • Dealership parts departments
  • Commercial parts suppliers
  • Independent repair facilities

The ideal candidate can take information from a technician and independently determine what part is needed, where to get it, what it should cost, and how quickly it can be obtained.

Qualifications

Preferred:

  • 2 years of automotive, diesel, heavy-duty, equipment, or related parts experience
  • Strong parts identification and cross-reference skills
  • Experience working with commercial parts vendors
  • Understanding of cores, returns, warranties, and freight
  • Inventory management experience
  • Comfortable working with computers and shop-management software
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Knowledge of diesel engines, Class 6–8 trucks, trailers, construction equipment, or fleet maintenance is highly desirable.

What Success Looks Like

This position has a direct impact on shop performance.

A successful Parts Specialist keeps technicians working instead of waiting, maintains accurate inventory, catches incorrect parts before they become expensive problems, recovers available core and return credits, controls unnecessary freight expenses, and sources parts at pricing that supports healthy margins.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the parts department rather than simply processing orders.

Pay: $20.00–$24.00 per hour $250–$500 monthly performance bonus

90-Day Review: Performance and compensation review after the first 90 days.

Experience: Automotive, diesel, heavy-duty, fleet, or equipment parts experience strongly preferred.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week

Benefits:

  • Dental insurance
  • Health insurance
  • Vision insurance

Work Location: In person

Salary : $20 - $24
