Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Heavy Equipment Service Manager to lead our service department dedicated to maintaining and repairing a wide range of construction, industrial, and farm machinery. Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the service department, including scheduling, workflow coordination, and resource allocation.
- Lead and motivate a team of service technicians specializing in heavy equipment repair, diagnostics, and maintenance.
- Oversee equipment troubleshooting processes utilizing schematics, electrical diagnostics, hydraulic systems, and mechanical knowledge to identify issues accurately.
- Ensure all repairs meet OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) standards and adhere to safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed records of service activities, parts inventory, and customer interactions for accountability and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance technician skills in areas such as diesel engine diagnostics, air brake systems, welding, and fabrication.
- Foster strong relationships with customers by providing expert advice on equipment maintenance, troubleshooting solutions, and repair timelines.
Requirements
- Proven dealership experience with heavy machinery or construction equipment servicing is highly preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of construction machinery maintenance including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and schematics for troubleshooting complex systems.
- Proficiency in electrical diagnostics, automotive diagnostics, HVAC systems, suspension alignment, brake repair, transmissions, hydraulics, and diesel engine repair.
- Familiarity with OEM standards for equipment such as Caterpillar or similar brands; experience with fabrication and assembly is advantageous.
- Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining high standards of customer service and safety compliance.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interpret technical schematics and provide clear guidance to technicians.
- Valid experience working with heavy equipment operation or service technician roles in dealership or industrial settings.
