Job Summary
The Senior Project Manager for the Concrete Group will manage the successful completion of all projects assigned to them based on the scope of work performed in the Concrete Group. The Sr. PM will be responsible for estimating, planning, scheduling, and facilitating the execution of the work by the field staff. The main focus of the Sr. PM will be singular, large-scale projects to minimize the number of open projects the SR. PM is directly involved with, so that the Sr. PM may focus on the managerial tasks associated with the senior position. This includes planning and coordinating with the Operations Manager and Project Managers to ensure the success of the projects. It also includes office duties such as keeping a master schedule up to date and ensuring the PM’s are meeting their obligations and KPI’s The Sr. PM will report to the VP of the Concrete Division and coordinate with the Ops Mgr and PM’s to ensure all work is done per quality and specifications, uphold our standard of care and values, represent the company name and image in meetings with owners, and participate as part of the team internally to promote a positive influence on the company
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1.Preconstruction
- Sr. PM will estimate projects assigned to bid.
- Additional duties include helping VP to review other PM’s bids and help VP to setup/export projects for setup in Vista and Heavy Job.
2. Field Planning
- Meet with Ops Mgr and PM’s weekly to ensure work progress and schedule are being met. Help plan operations and crew needs and resolve scheduling conflicts along with VP.
- Maintain and update the company Master Schedule by running schedules and coordinating updates from individual PM’s.
- Meet with Owner or their representative to ensure we are meeting their expectations and that they have a positive view of our work and company. Report any discrepancies to VP and help facilitate changes where possible.
- Conduct occasional site visits with VP & Ops Mgr to view progress and safety; make suggestions and coach PM’s and Supers for any changes needed based on feedback and visits.
3. Productivity
- Review timecards weekly to ensure all timekeepers are fully utilizing software and have accurate reporting. Minimize errors and help VP coach timekeepers to streamline productivity and time reporting processes.
- Run weekly reports necessary to track overtime usage and productivity and review with VP and PMs to ensure we are meeting budget. If any anomalies are found, help facilitate production plans to get back on track.
4. Financials
- Review costs Weekly and assist VP in monthly project reviews based on Vista Cost Projections. Factor in schedule and productivity from HJ to identify non-performance and help VP to facilitate recovery where possible. Help VP track and present financial information to Accounting and Leadership teams as part of overall profitability and strategic planning.
5. Crew Review & Performance
- Review field employee reviews with Ops Mgr to determine the quality of field crews. Assist VP in ensuring the quality of personnel and making recommendations for employees.
- Participate in training certification and needs review with VP and Ops Mgr. Make recommendations and help track compliance/completion of training.
- Review performance of crews and assist VP in making decisions on bonuses for PM’s and below.
6. Safety
- Coordinate with Safety Dept. To ensure we meet all requirements on projects. Make recommendations to VP and Ops Mgr to facilitate improvements or changes as required.
7. Other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Required Skills and abilities:
- Ability to communicate with field and office personnel as well as owners and other personnel in various environments (Field, informal meetings, formal meetings, etc.)
- Ability to review and understand plans at a high level to effectively plan work and recognize issues.
- Ability to utilize technology provided to manage workload and crews. This includes operating an iPad, laptop, phone, and various software including Microsoft Office, Heavy Job, Heavy Bid, Etc.
- Critical thinking skills and ability to solve problems and look ahead to plan work.
Qualifications:
- BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience will be considered.
- 10 YR of field experience with at least 7 YR of Project Management Experience.
- HCSS Heavy Bid, Heavy Job experience
- Scheduling Software
- Viewpoint Vista experience a plus
- OSHA 30 Card

- Ability to traverse uneven terrain in the field.
- Ability to sit for lengths of time in a vehicle or office environment.
