What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front-End & Mobile Architect Engineer (GCP-Native, Regulated Health) position at MyWayv?
We are seeking a Front-End & Mobile Architect Engineer with 10–15 years of experience designing and scaling web and native mobile applications in GCP-based, regulated environments. This role is for a senior engineer who owns client-side architecture end-to-end, across web, iOS, and Android, with a strong understanding of privacy, security, compliance, and long-term maintainability.
You will define architectural standards across platforms, make principled trade-offs between cross-platform and native development, and ensure seamless, secure integration with GCP-hosted services in health and regulated domains.
- Architect and design large-scale web and mobile client applications for regulated environments
- Define and enforce client-side architectural standards across platforms (state management, navigation, data flow, error handling)
- Make and document React Native vs native (Swift/Kotlin) architectural decisions based on performance, compliance, and product needs
- Lead development of shared UI systems and design systems with accessibility and consistency as first-class concerns
- Ensure secure, reliable integration with GCP-hosted APIs and identity services
- Design client-side strategies for data privacy, secure storage, encryption, and auditability
- Establish CI/CD pipelines with automated testing, security scanning, and release controls for web and mobile
- Partner with product, clinical, legal, and backend teams to translate requirements into compliant technical solutions
- Serve as a technical authority and mentor for front-end and mobile engineers
- Drive architectural reviews, risk assessments, and long-term technical roadmaps
This role is expected to be opinionated, pragmatic, and experience-driven—not dogmatic.
React Native
- Strong experience building and maintaining production-grade React Native applications
- Ability to determine when cross-platform reuse provides meaningful velocity without compromising reliability
- Experience designing shared business logic and UI layers while respecting platform boundaries
- Deep understanding of performance trade-offs, native bridges, and debugging React Native at scale
- Comfortable integrating React Native apps with native modules when required
Swift (iOS) / Kotlin (Android)
- Proven experience building fully native iOS and Android applications
- Ability to design platform-specific architectures when performance, security, or OS-level capabilities require it
- Experience with native lifecycle management, background processing, secure storage, and OS-level permissions
- Strong understanding of when native-first is the correct choice for regulated or safety-critical workflows
Expectation
- You are capable of leading mixed architectures (React Native native)
- You can clearly articulate why a feature should be cross-platform or native
- You optimize for patient safety, privacy, performance, and maintainability, not just speed
- 10–15 years of professional experience in front-end and/or mobile engineering
- Deep expertise in React and modern front-end architecture
- Strong experience with React Native and native iOS (Swift) / Android (Kotlin)
- Experience operating in health, regulated, or privacy-sensitive environments
- Familiarity with GCP-based client integration, including identity and serverless endpoints
- Strong understanding of secure authentication flows, token handling, and identity federation
- Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG), especially for health-related applications
- Strong grasp of performance optimization, client-side security, and defensive engineering
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines with testing, compliance checks, and release governance
- Experience with HIPAA, SOC 2, or similar regulatory frameworks
- Familiarity with FHIR or healthcare data interaction patterns (client-side)
- Experience with Firebase, secure mobile analytics, and privacy-conscious telemetry
- Prior experience in a staff, principal, or architect-level role
- Experience designing applications used in clinical, therapeutic, or safety-critical contexts
- Client architectures that are secure, compliant, and resilient
- Clear, defensible decisions around React Native vs native development
- High-quality, accessible user experiences trusted in regulated environments
- Strong alignment between client platforms and GCP-based infrastructure
- Reduced long-term risk, fragmentation, and technical debt
