Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to inform care plans.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols, including IV infusions and medication administration.
- Assist with complex procedures such as catheterization, tube feeding, wound suturing, and sterile processing techniques.
- Manage patient documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth to ensure precise medical records and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide specialized care for diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal ventilator management, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), and individuals with developmental disabilities or infectious diseases.
- Support emergency response efforts by managing airway management, ventilator use, acute pain management, and triage in urgent or hospital settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or ICU environments.
- Participate in discharge planning, case management, and patient education to promote recovery and long-term health outcomes.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with current certification.
- Proven experience in critical care settings such as ICU, emergency room, or Level I Trauma Center preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; experience with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in specialized areas such as hospice care, palliative care (including botulinum toxin treatments), or post-acute care is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform venipuncture, phlebotomy, sterile procedures, and aseptic techniques confidently.
