Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and comfort.
- Take and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature accurately using medical equipment.
- Support clinical staff with procedures such as catheter care, wound dressing changes, and basic life support when needed.
- Document patient information clearly and thoroughly in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner to ensure seamless communication.
- Monitor patients’ condition closely, report changes or concerns promptly to nursing staff, and assist with emergency response protocols.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, including memory care techniques and behavioral health support.
- Maintain a safe environment by following infection control protocols such as aseptic technique and proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in accordance with state regulations.
- Experience working in diverse healthcare environments including hospitals (ICU, emergency medicine), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home care settings.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic medical procedures such as phlebotomy or catheter care is highly valued.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms for accurate medical documentation.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, including those with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs.
- Strong communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to patient service and caregiving.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and assist with patient mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices.
