In this essential role, you'll help ensure the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of our facilities while creating a welcoming and well-maintained environment for the individuals we support and our team members. Job Summary We are looking for a dependable and skilled Maintenance Assistant to support building operations, grounds upkeep, and equipment maintenance at our residential and school programs. You’ll complete a variety of tasks ranging from painting, basic plumbing and electrical, to grounds care and special projects—all while contributing to a safe and positive setting that supports the mission of our organization. Key Responsibilities Facility Maintenance & Repair Respond to and complete maintenance work orders as assigned by the Facilities Manager (e.g., painting, minor repairs, moving furniture, deliveries). Perform routine building and equipment inspections and preventative maintenance. Handle minor plumbing and electrical repairs, such as unclogging toilets, replacing light fixtures, and troubleshooting systems. Grounds & Safety Assist with seasonal grounds care including mowing, snow removal, leaf collection, and general outdoor upkeep. Maintain clean and safe workspaces and alert Facilities Manager to any safety concerns. Help ensure HVAC, boilers, water heaters, and basic mechanical systems remain operational. Tools & Equipment Properly use, maintain, and store all tools and machinery. Support the maintenance of shared vehicles and ensure transportation readiness. Participate in larger maintenance projects and assist with special building needs as assigned. Communication & Teamwork Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with internal and external staff and vendors, maintaining professional conduct and confidentiality. Work collaboratively with the Facilities Manager and other departments to meet facility and maintenance needs. Conduct self in positive, respectful, and collaborative manner in accordance with the MyPath Beliefs and Behaviors demonstrating proactive actions and decision making that foster supportive work relationships and a healthy and safe environment. Maintain abreast of current trends in services and other related areas; may attend conferences, workshops and other training as needed and shares this new information with department. Comply with and positively reinforce with others the expectations outlined in: Company Handbook; policies and procedures including emergency/disaster procedures, fire/tornado safety. Schedule A full-time, hourly role focused on delivering hands-on maintenance support to ensure safe, functional, and welcoming environments for residents and staff. Primarily first-shift hours with required flexibility for occasional evenings, weekends, or emergency calls. Participate in emergency on-call rotation as needed. Qualifications Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED required Minimum one year of maintenance or facilities experience required. Preferred experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, floor care, cleaning, snow removal and boiler maintenance. Required Skills & Attributes Ability to maintain a calm and effective demeanor in emergency and stressful situations. Strong attention to detail. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently. Ability to read and interpret manuals, instructions, and blueprints. Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and work on ladders, in tight spaces, and outdoors. Additional Requirements Must be at least 18 years old. Must possess a valid Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record. Willingness to work in varied environments, including, but not limited to exposure to cleaning products, tools, and seasonal weather.
