What are the responsibilities and job description for the Host position at Myles Restaurant Group?
As a Host, you provide the first and last impression with our guests and are responsible for greeting, seating, and saying goodbye as well as maintaining the flow of the restaurant during service. Therefore, it is imperative that you are positive, gracious, and professional.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the general functioning of the dining room during meal service, relaying information to managers and service personnel
- Manages the door; maintains wait list, as appropriate; informs guests of approximate wait time and where they can wait for a table; informs guests when their table is ready
- Manage customer complaints and dissatisfaction in a prompt and professional manner; determine necessary adjustments; inform manager of complaint and resolution
- Meet and greet customers promptly, courteously, and graciously, addressing customers by name whenever possible.
- Takes and manages reservations in the restaurant
- Informs guests when tables are ready, escorts them to table, provides menus and introduces the server
- Assists with the duties of servers and bus persons as needed to maintain service effectiveness and efficiency
- Maintain the cleanliness and counts of all menus
- Always approaches and moves towards the guest. Never waits for the guest to come to them
- Answer restaurant telephone courteously and efficiently.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
- Answer phones; manage reservations and notes in Open Table; take to-go orders, receive payment and bring food to customers when they arrive.
Job Requirements
- Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule often including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Able to work flexible hours necessary including nights, weekends and holidays
- Professional and polished appearance and demeanor
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment preferred
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours per day
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to exert fast-paced mobility for periods of up to 6 hours in length
- Must be able to read, write and understand English
- Ability to work within the following conditions: wet floors, temperature extremes, and loud noise
