Duties and Responsibilities==Org. Setting and Reporting== The Internship is in the Outreach Division of the Department of Global Communications, in the Advocacy and Social Impact Section, specifically with the team that manages the UN's Creative Community Outreach Initiative (CCOI) and Messenger of Peace (MOP) Programme. CCOI promotes partnerships and collaborations with the global entertainment industry, including film, television, documentaries, new media, sport and music; the MOP Programme coordinates the advocacy work of the UN Messengers of Peace on behalf of the Organization and coordinates policy on celebrity advocacy, including Goodwill Ambassadors, across the UN System globally. Two internship positions are available to start on 6 July 2026. The internship is for a period of six months. The internship is unpaid and full-time. Interns work five days a week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the office to which they are assigned. This internship is designed to be full-time and in-person in New York but can be adjusted based on the availability of the successful candidate. For more information about the Creative Community Outreach Initiative, please visit: https://www.un.org/en/ccoi For more information about the Messenger of Peace programme, please visit: https://www.un.org/en/mop ==Responsibilities== The selected interns may perform some of the following functions: - Providing support for projects undertaken with external partners from the entertainment or sports industries, such as drafting of background materials, taking meeting notes, etc. - Providing support for monitoring and reporting on social media activities of the Messengers of Peace and other influencers in support of the UN; and collating metrics on advocacy engagement. - Providing support for the planning and organization of special events, filming projects and other in-person activities at UN Headquarters. - Providing support for drafting, formatting, editing and posting original content for the team's two websites. - Providing support for the drafting of communications materials, including concept notes, talking points, presentations and press releases. - Providing support for monitoring the applications to the Football for the Goals membership daily and process the application as well as assisting with the planning and executing of FFTG Member Convenings and other events.

Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Please detail if you have other skills such as graphic designs, photography or video editing. Ability to draft email, publications, or knowledge of social media posts is desirable.

LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

If already in the United States of America on another non-immigrant visa status other than G-4, interns will be responsible for ensuring that they have a valid visa, and if required, employment authorization, allowing them to undertake the internship.

Intern Specific textInterns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
