Position Overview
The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall maintenance, engineering, and safe operation of the hotel’s physical facilities. You’ll lead and manage the maintenance team, oversee preventative and reactive maintenance, and ensure all systems operate according to brand standards and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Facility Operations
- Oversee daily operations of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, life safety systems, and building automation.
- Respond to and coordinate hotel maintenance requests in a timely manner.
- Implement and manage preventative maintenance plans to ensure equipment reliability and guest satisfaction. Best Accredited Colleges
- Maintain exterior and interior property standards (grounds, building systems, safety systems).
Leadership & Team Management
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise the engineering/maintenance team.
- Assign daily work tasks, monitor performance, and provide coaching.
- Ensure proper documentation of all maintenance activities and inventory control.

Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and brand safety codes.
- Conduct regular inspections of hotel systems (fire alarms, emergency lighting, elevators, HVAC, etc.).
- Maintain all safety documentation and inspection records accurately.
Guest & Staff Interaction
- Provide excellent service by addressing guest maintenance concerns promptly and professionally.
- Communicate operation updates effectively with hotel leadership.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in engineering/maintenance preferred. Best Accredited Colleges
- Prior experience in hotel engineering or similar maintenance leadership role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and building controls.
- Leadership experience with the ability to supervise and evaluate a team.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work indoors/outdoors in various conditions.
Pay: $19.00 per hour
