What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Kitchen Manager position at My Fit Foods?
Production Kitchen Manager | High-Volume Production & Leadership
Houston, TX 77007 | $65,000–$80,000 Annually
We’re looking for a proven kitchen leader who knows how to run a high-volume operation, develop people, and maintain exceptional standards.
This is an opportunity to do more than manage one kitchen.
You’ll help lead our Houston production operation, master our production systems, develop the team around you, and grow into a leader who can help train Kitchen Managers, support new openings, and build strong kitchen teams across multiple markets as we expand.
If you’re a strong Kitchen Manager, Production Manager, Sous Chef, or culinary leader who wants more responsibility and long-term growth, we want to talk to you.
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
You’ll be a hands-on leader in a high-volume production kitchen responsible for consistent execution across people, food, and operations.
You will:
- Lead daily production alongside the kitchen team
- Drive food quality, consistency, portioning, productivity, safety, and sanitation
- Coach and develop cooks, production team members, and kitchen leaders
- Ensure recipes and production standards are followed consistently
- Identify execution gaps and coach the team toward improvement
- Help onboard and develop Kitchen Managers and future kitchen leaders
- Partner with culinary leadership to improve systems and execution
- Support other kitchens when additional leadership or training is needed
- Travel periodically to help train teams and support new kitchen openings
This is a hands-on leadership position. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable being in the kitchen with the team, setting the standard, coaching in the moment, and owning the result.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
First and foremost, you need to be a strong kitchen operator.
You should have:
- 3 years of kitchen leadership experience
- Experience leading high-volume food production
- Strong cooking ability and excellent knife skills
- Experience with large-batch cooking
- Experience using commercial production equipment
- Strong understanding of food quality, portioning, production, food safety, and sanitation
- Experience coaching and developing kitchen teams
- The ability to hold people accountable while maintaining strong relationships
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work effectively with different teams and personalities
- A high level of ownership and work ethic
- A desire to continue growing as a leader
- Flexibility to travel periodically, including occasional short-notice travel
Bilingual English/Spanish fluency is required.
Experience with tilt skillets and large-scale production equipment is strongly preferred.
Relevant backgrounds may include:
- High-volume restaurants
- Hotels and resorts
- Catering and banquet operations
- Commissary kitchens
- Meal-prep production
- Grocery or prepared-food production
- Institutional or large-scale food production
WE CAN TEACH YOU OUR SYSTEM
You do not need to know our recipes or processes before you start.
We’ll teach you our production systems, recipes, equipment, portioning methods, quality standards, and operating procedures.
What we cannot teach from scratch is the foundation:
Kitchen leadership. Work ethic. Cooking fundamentals. Ownership. People development.
We need someone who already knows how to lead a kitchen and wants to learn our system well enough to eventually teach it to others.
WHERE THIS ROLE CAN GO
We are growing, and as we enter new markets, we need strong kitchen leaders who can help us maintain the same standards everywhere we operate.
The right person could grow from leading production in Houston into opportunities involving:
- Training Kitchen Managers
- Developing future kitchen leaders
- Supporting new kitchen openings
- Traveling to other markets
- Improving production systems
- Leading training and development across multiple kitchens
We want to develop leaders who can grow with the business not simply fill another Kitchen Manager position.
If you’re a proven kitchen leader who wants to build teams, improve operations, and grow beyond running one kitchen, we want to hear from you.
