Duties and Responsibilities:
· Case Management: Manage cases from hire date through trial
· Client Representation: Represent clients in bond modification hearings, ALR hearings, plea negotiations in docket, suppression hearings, and trial, providing diligent and compassionate advocacy
· Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategies and arguments, regularly attending CLEs to stay abreast of developments in relevant laws
· Documentation: Draft legal documents, including pretrial motions and briefs that are clear and impactful
· Discovery Review: Examine the State’s evidence thoroughly with an eye toward finding weaknesses and inconsistencies
· Collaboration: Work closely with senior attorneys, paralegals, and other staff to ensure comprehensive representation and support for clients
· Client Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with clients to inform them about case status, processes, and strategies
Qualifications:
- Licensed to practice law in Texas
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Minimum of 1 year of criminal law experience, either as an assistant district attorney or criminal defense attorney.
- Strong advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills with a proven ability to empathize with clients
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail in all legal documents and proceedings
- Ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team environment while demonstrating independence when necessary
- Ability to drive to courthouses throughout the DFW area
Salary: $100,000 - $135,000
