Associate Attorney - Criminal Defense

Job Overview
Haim Vasquez Immigration Law Firm, PLLC, is a family- and removal-defense immigration firm based in Irving, Texas. We are now expanding into criminal defense and are seeking a dedicated Criminal Defense Attorney to help us build and grow this new practice area.

About the Role

We are looking for a licensed Texas attorney with 2–3 years of criminal defense or prosecutorial experience, strong legal writing and courtroom skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking clients. The ideal candidate will bring initiative, professionalism, and a team-oriented mindset as we integrate criminal defense into our firm’s mission of protecting and guiding immigrant families.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent clients in criminal defense matters ranging from misdemeanors to felonies.
• Handle arraignments, motions, plea negotiations, trials, and post-conviction issues.
• Collaborate with our immigration attorneys to evaluate the immigration consequences of criminal charges.
• Provide high-quality client communication and maintain case files in an organized manner.
• Contribute to shaping the policies, procedures, and strategic vision of the criminal defense department.

Qualifications

• J.D. and active license to practice law in Texas (in good standing).
• 2–3 years of experience in criminal defense or as a prosecutor.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) required.
• Strong oral advocacy, negotiation, and legal writing skills.
• Commitment to serving immigrant and working-class communities.

Job Type: Full-time

Base Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
