Automotive Paint Prep Technician
MWCustoms is hiring an Automotive Paint Prep Technician to join our production team in Valley Center, Kansas.
This is NOT a collision repair position and we are not prepping full vehicles or repairing wrecked body panels.
Our team specializes in custom-painted automotive parts, including:
- Headlight and taillight housings
- Tow mirrors
- Grilles
- Bezels
- Fender lights
- Textured plastic trim
- Other small and medium-sized automotive parts
Your job is to properly prepare these parts so they are ready for our paint department.
What You'll Be Doing
- Sanding and preparing plastic and painted automotive parts
- Removing factory texture and surface imperfections
- Scuffing and prepping parts for primer and paint
- Cleaning and degreasing parts before paint
- Masking areas that should not be painted
- Using DA sanders, hand sanding tools, Scotch-Brite pads and other prep equipment
- Inspecting parts to make sure they are completely ready for paint
- Organizing parts and keeping jobs together throughout the production process
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area
- Working closely with our painters and production team to keep jobs moving

Experience That Transfers Well
Automotive paint prep experience is a plus, but we are also interested in candidates with experience in:
- Automotive body shops
- Aircraft manufacturing or finishing
- Industrial painting or coatings
- Powder coating
- Automotive detailing
- Manufacturing or production assembly
- Sanding, finishing or surface preparation
You do not need collision repair experience.

Location: Valley Center, Kansas — approximately 10 minutes north of Wichita
Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday
Start Time: 7:00 AM
We are looking to fill this position immediately.
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
