What are the responsibilities and job description for the Overnight Caregiver Needed for Adult With Intellectual Disabilities (Weekends Required) position at MW SDS Support Broker Service Inc.?
We are looking for a dependable full or part-time caregivers who can provide steady evening and overnight support for an adult with intellectual disabilities. This position requires Saturday and Sunday nights, along with weekday evening hours from 5 PM to 10 PM.
Our ideal candidate is English speaking, preferably from an Asian or Hispanic/Latino background, with strong experience supporting adults who can display physical aggression, high anxiety, and challenging behaviors.
The person you’ll be supporting, struggles greatly with new caregivers. Her anxiety increases when someone unfamiliar is in the home, and she may sleep very little. Even on calmer nights, she wakes several times, turns on lights, and attempts to go outside and wander. These behaviors can be difficult to redirect at first but these behaviors may lessen as she becomes more comfortable with the caregiver. Ongoing overnight supervision and support will still be necessary.
The role is to remain awake, attentive, and patient throughout the night. You’ll monitor her safety, reassure her when she wakes, help her settle back to sleep, and prevent her from leaving the home unsupervised.
Because of her sensitivity to new people, we want applicants to fully understand the challenges involved. A gradual introduction and time working alongside a familiar caregiver will help her build trust and make the transition smoother.
If you have the experience, patience, and calm presence needed for this role, we would like to hear from you.
