Position Summary
The Food Pantry Coordinator's role is to ensure the smooth operation of Mustard Seed Ministries' food pantries, including ordering, receiving, storing, and distributing food to clients. The individual fulfilling this position works closely with staff, volunteers, clients, and community partners, providing best-in-class service to all constituencies.
Duties
- Communicate with staff and volunteers before each Pantry shift regarding the day's plan, including available fresh vegetables, any specials, required client communication, and other relevant details.
- Meet the needs of clients, volunteers, and staff by being responsive and accommodating, positive, and having a can-do attitude.
- Keeps tabs on inventory levels throughout Pantry service and adjusts them as needed to ensure service runs smoothly.
- Maintains all temperature logs as required by Treasure Coast Food Bank guidelines.
- Ensures food is handled and stored in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Make staff and volunteer assignments as needed to ensure timely service for clients, complete the stocking and restocking of the Pantry, and maintain a clean area.
- Conduct ongoing inventory management activities to ensure appropriate capacity levels align with Food Pantry objectives (food, supplies, etc.).
- Track and report clients served through data entry in various systems. Assist the Manager of Food Services with scheduling of food drives, managing volunteers during the day of the drive, and distributing food received during the drive throughout the warehouse.
- Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to schedule the appropriate level of volunteers for each Pantry service day.
- Train new volunteers, ensure all volunteers complete the annual Treasure Coast Food Bank video training, and identify areas of training needed for volunteers and staff.
- Learn to order from various food distribution lanes to maximize dollars spent and ensure the Pantry is appropriately stocked to serve clients.
- Continuously seek ways to improve processes and create efficiencies.
- Possess an inherent desire to make the world a better place.
- Manage Pantry paperwork and filing system for the Port St. Lucie Pantry, per Treasure Coast Food Bank guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED – Required; Associates or Technical Degree/Certificate Preferred
- Food industry experience with knowledge of food pantry operations and best practices is preferred, OR experience in a corporate environment, service-related industry, or nonprofit organization
- Prior supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to motivate and manage diverse personalities
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders in a diverse community
- Ability to respond appropriately, fairly, and diplomatically to sensitive and confidential issues
- Displays a high degree of emotional maturity
- Reliable transportation required
- Computer skills desired: some Word, Excel, and Outlook
Physical Requirements
The Food Pantry Coordinator must be able to regularly lift and carry 50-pound bags and boxes of food, push or pull 1,000 pounds of food on a manual pallet jack, walk up two flights of stairs multiple times per shift, stand for several hours at a time, see, hear, and speak clearly to coordinate work with others using face-to-face contact, operate light electrical equipment, and use manual tools.

Weekly Schedule
- Monday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm in Port St. Lucie Pantry (8 hours)
- Tuesday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm in Port St. Lucie Pantry (8 hours)
- Wednesday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm in Port St. Lucie Pantry (8 hours)
- Thursday: 7:30 am – 11:30 am in St. Paul’s Sarah’s Kitchen (4 hours)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 22 – 28 per week
