What are the responsibilities and job description for the MEDICAL ASSISTANT position at Muskegon County, MI?
A Medical Assistant in a HealthWest program functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team to support the Medical and Nursing Providers. Duties include coordinating care by gathering and sharing information, participates and assists with the intake process, direct care and monitoring of individuals, monitoring and storage of medications, general clerical support, and maintenance of work area.
Required Minimum Entrance Qualifications
1. Be a high school graduate or have a certificate of completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test.
2. Have completed a Medical Assistant training program through Ross Medical Education Center, Baker College, or other similar entity. Candidates working outside of either the HealthWest Crisis Residential Unit or Muskegon County Jail are required to be a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
3. Possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Michigan Driver License within 30 days of employment.
4. Must have a reliable transportation that may have to be used to carry out job duties of this classification.
Preferred but not Required
1. Lived experience with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.
2. Individuals in Recovery and individuals with experience in Armed Services valued.
3. Bilingual candidates highly desired.
4. Individuals are encouraged to pursue certification or registration even if working for a team where it is not required.

Physical Conditions / Work Location
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
A Medical Assistant performs non-sedentary work activities requiring the lifting of objects weighing thirty-five (35) pounds or less. Must be able to perform physical intervention activities as trained/required.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
An employee in this class may work in a crisis residential facility or be assigned to clients living independently or in supported independence programs. Travel to locations within the County may be required.
