Position Details

• Position: Full-Time Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC)
• Location: San Diego County, CA (Services provided across various client sites; mileage reimbursement included)
• Start Date: September 1, 2026
• Application Deadline: August 17, 2026
• Compensation: $31.25 - $37.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
• Benefits: Health, dental, vision insurance (optional), CBMT dues, continuing education stipend, paid time off, mileage reimbursement, company laptop/tablet, Zoom and phone app provided

The Right Candidate Will:

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in music therapy or equivalent
• Have a current accreditation of MT-BC (Music Therapist-Board Certified)
• 2 years of clinical experience preferred; entry-level candidates considered
• Be a proficient clinical musician skilled in voice, guitar, piano, and percussion
• Be passionate about working in diverse clinical settings alongside interdisciplinary professionals
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity, empathy, and respect for diverse populations and abilities
• Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills
• Be comfortable using Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Drive)
• Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation
• Be able to pass background check, TB, drug, and health screenings as required by facilities
• Be dependable, responsible, flexible, and a collaborative team player
• Show commitment to ongoing professional development and advocacy for the music therapy profession

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Clinical Music Therapy

• Provide individualized and group music therapy services to clients of all ages in clinical, community, and school-based settings
• Conduct thorough client assessments and develop tailored treatment plans aligned with client goals and educational/clinical standards
• Collaborate closely with healthcare providers, families, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize client outcomes
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in compliance with agency and regulatory requirements
• Facilitate special music wellness events such as drum circles, memorial services, and community gatherings

2. Agency Growth & Engagement

• Support business development through networking and excellent customer service
• Participate actively in agency meetings, training, and community events

3. Work Schedule

• 40-hour work week, 5 days/week; Weekend/evening events as assigned (i.e. drum circles, memorial services, special events.)

4.  Other

• Perform job duties involving sitting, standing, bending, driving, and lifting instruments
• Exercise good judgment, confidentiality, and professionalism in all interactions
