What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Coordinator position at Music Box SD?
Music Box is one of San Diego’s most iconic live music venues and a premier private events destination. We’re looking for a Marketing Coordinator who’s highly organized, creative, and execution-focused—someone who loves live music, moves fast, and takes pride in details.
You’ll support day-to-day marketing across shows, brand awareness, and private events, working closely with our ownership team and external partners/vendors. This is a great role for someone early-to-mid career who wants real responsibility and a clear path to grow.
- Support marketing execution for weekly show calendars: social posts, listings, ticket links, on-sale announcements, and promo timelines
- Coordinate with guest promoters, talent, and vendors to gather assets (photos/video/graphics/copy) and keep campaigns on track
- Assist with email marketing: building/scheduling sends, list segmentation support, and keeping subscriber growth initiatives moving
- Maintain event listings accuracy across platforms (website, ticketing pages, venue listings, partners)
- Help manage website content updates (events, banners, basic SEO hygiene, and performance-oriented updates)
- Support paid media execution and reporting (Meta/Google), including creative trafficking and basic performance summaries
- Coordinate photo/video capture needs and organize content for social, email, and web use
- Help run promotions/contests and audience-growth initiatives to drive attendance and fill unused capacity
- Support private events marketing by keeping B2B outreach materials updated and ensuring private events are consistently represented across channels
- Track weekly marketing metrics (email list growth, social growth/engagement, ticket sales, promo performance) and maintain simple reporting dashboards
- Provide on-site support at select shows/events for content capture and relationship building
- 1–3 years of marketing experience (entertainment/hospitality/events is a plus, not required)
- Strong writing instincts and an eye for clean, compelling content
- Highly organized—can manage multiple timelines and deliverables without things slipping
- Comfortable working in fast-paced environments and switching priorities quickly
- Familiarity with social platforms (Instagram/TikTok/Facebook/X; bonus for YouTube, LinkedIn, Threads)
- Basic comfort with tools like Google Workspace, Canva/Adobe, email platforms, and analytics/reporting
- Positive, proactive communicator who follows through and takes ownership
- Willingness to work some nights/weekends tied to key shows/events
- Experience with venue/show marketing, ticketing platforms, or street/grassroots marketing
- Photo/video skills (shooting and light editing for social)
- Understanding of deliverability and list health (email best practices)
- Paid media experience (even at a basic level)
- High-impact work at a respected venue with real brand presence in San Diego
- Direct exposure to ownership-level decision making
- Opportunities to grow into a Marketing Manager-level role over time
- Work with great artists, partners, and a strong extended vendor team
