SUMMARY: The Museum of Discovery and Science makes learning about STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) interesting, engaging, and fun. The Museum's unique exhibits and programs create memorable learning experiences for all ages. Our mission is connecting people to inspiring science. The Controller plays a critical role in the financial management and sustainability of the Museum of Discovery and Science. This position is responsible for overseeing accounting and reporting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP, grant requirements, and relevant regulatory standards. The Controller will lead budgeting processes, financial audits, and day-to-day accounting operations to ensure fiscal responsibility and operational efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field along with 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Solid understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, including fund accounting. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Blackbaud, or similar) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
