Position Overview
The Legal Assistant plays a key role in supporting paralegals and attorneys and ensuring smooth daily operations. This position involves interpreting for non-Spanish fluent attorneys, maintaining electronic and physical files, preparing immigration petitions for mailing, and assisting with legal work.
This is a full-time, in-office position based in Fairfax, VA; Silver Spring, MD; or Newark, NJ, with the expectation of daily on-site presence.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Support & Coordination
- Assist paralegals and attorneys with case preparation and documentation
- Prepare and mail immigration petitions and supporting documents
- Maintain organized electronic and physical case files
Client Communication & Interpretation
- Provide Spanish-English interpretation for non-Spanish-fluent attorneys
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients when needed
Administrative & Operational Support
- Assist with office tasks and workflow management
- Support ongoing projects and initiatives within the firm
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Must be fluent in Spanish (reading, writing, speaking)
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Salesforce and SharePoint preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
