Bank Teller Position Available: Full-Time; Must be able to work Saturday Shifts. Current Listing applies to Teller Trainee at minimum posted pay. Applicants with New Accounts/Universal Banking or additional banking experience may be eligible for further wage consideration commensurate with experience and education.

Summary: Receives and pays out money, and keeps records of money and negotiable instruments involved in financial transactions by performing the following duties in accordance with this financial institution's policies and procedures.

Organizational Environment: This position reports to the Teller Supervisor of the bank or Branch Manager and/or Assistant Branch Mgr/Customer Service Specialist of that location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Receives checks and cash for deposit, verifies amount, and examines checks for endorsements.
  • Cashes checks and pays out money after verification of signatures and customer balances.
  • Enters customers' transactions into computer to record transactions, and issues computer generated receipts.
  • Assists with SDB Customer Access; Processes SDB Payments
  • Rolls Coin
  • Completes Specialized Transactions (such as Savings Bonds, Tax or Housing Payments)
  • Places holds on accounts for uncollected funds.
  • Orders daily supply of cash, and counts incoming cash.
  • Balances currency, coin, and checks in cash drawer at end of shift and compares totaled amounts with data displayed on computer screen.
  • Knows all products & services and associated fess & charges. Can explain products or services such as Certificate of Deposits, Money Market Deposit Accounts, Checking and Savings Accounts, and Safe Deposit Boxes. Refers loan and deposit products and bank services to Loan Officer, Retail Banker, CSR, or New Account Representative.
  • Removes deposits from, and counts and balances cash in, night depository and automated teller machines.
  • Assists with deposits processed through the mail, night depository, or automated teller machine.
  • Assist with Incoming phone, forwarding calls appropriately, and answering non-complex customer inquiries as needed
  • Accepts loan payments and ensures payments meet balance due.
  • Assists the bank with BSA compliance by logging monetary transactions, reporting and preparing CTRs, and immediately reporting suspicious currency transactions to the BSA office.
  • Shows proper judgment calls on various transactions, including teller limits, overrides, and customer issues
  • May assist New Accounts with ACH Auto Enrollment
  • May assist in balancing ATM(s)
  • May assist supervisor(s) by Balancing Cash Book in a rotation or as a backup
  • May assist in Training of Teller Trainee Levels I

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: A high school diploma, GED, vocational diploma is required or alternately have completed or have competency in all requirements for Teller Trainee I and Teller Trainee II. Associate Degree or higher and 1 (one) year of teller training is preferred.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the financial institution.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Internet Explorer Internet software, and Microsoft Office programs, specifically Outlook. The individual must be able to competently perform required non-complex MXIE operations (Phone System), CSI (Core) software including but not limited to NuPoint Teller, access specialized banking websites to complete customer processes, and diagnose non-complex hardware and software issues.
