What You’ll Be Doing
As a Detailer / Programmer, you’ll play a critical role in the success of fabrication and installation projects by delivering precise, professional drawings that keep projects moving efficiently.
Key responsibilities include:
· Create accurate, complete, and detailed shop drawings for fabrication and installation
· Collaborate with project managers, estimators, leadership, and field teams to ensure drawings meet project requirements
· Attend project coordination meetings and proactively address detailing needs
· Visit jobsites to take accurate field measurements prior to producing shop drawings
· Review subcontract scopes and alert project managers to potential change orders
· Resolve technical issues and communicate clearly with project managers or clients for clarification
· Support continuous improvement initiatives, including future automation and process enhancements
Future Growth & Technology
This company is planning future expansion into automated fabrication equipment and advanced programming workflows to improve efficiency and precision. While specific equipment is still being evaluated, this role will be involved in:
· Researching automation and fabrication technologies
· Learning and adapting to new software and programming tools
· Helping streamline the flow from office drawings to shop production

Skills & Competencies
To succeed in this role, you should bring:
· Strong knowledge of building and construction standards
· Experience with structural steel and miscellaneous metals, including stairs, railings, ladders, and platforms
· Proficiency in CAD software and comfort using Microsoft Office
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately
· Strong problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills
· Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
Preferred but not required:
· Familiarity with CNC machinery or automated fabrication equipment
Required Experience & Education
· High School Diploma or GED
· 3 years of CAD software experience
· 3 years of detailing experience in structural steel and/or miscellaneous metals
· Willingness to learn new technology and automation systems
Work Environment
This position is primarily based in a professional office setting, with occasional jobsite visits. Work environments may include:
· Indoor and outdoor construction sites
· Exposure to noise, fumes, dust, or airborne particles
· Occasional work around heavy equipment, elevated areas, or confined spaces
Physical Requirements
· Ability to climb ladders and work in elevated or confined spaces
· Prolonged sitting or standing (4–8 hours)
· Frequent computer use and detailed visual work
· Ability to handle small tools and equipment as needed
