Qualifications: The person in this position must be personable and comfortable communicating with the general public; maintain confidentiality; demonstrate a positive attitude and good work habits; have excellent computer skills; be able to efficiently operate various types of basic office equipment; demonstrate willingness and ability to follow directions; be motivated to work productively without close supervision; and work cooperatively with a variety of people. This person must be detailed, accurate, and efficient in maintaining databases. This person must be able to organize a broad spectrum of duties within the Human Resources department while providing clear communication.
Physical Demands: This person must be able to navigate frequent interruptions – changing from one task to another abruptly – and able to handle stress. They must be able to articulate clearly, both written and verbally, and maintain organization. They must accurately follow and communicate directions and messages, and provide own transportation (i.e. trips to schools, etc.) during performance of duty. The person in this position must be physically active and interactive throughout the day as necessary.
Essential Job Functions: The Human Resources Generalist is required to have a broad knowledge over many facets of the Human Resources Department. Major functions of this job are to assist current and prospective employees, onboard new employees to the district, maintain licensing for certified staff, maintain substitute teacher tracking system; and to stay up to date with state laws and statutes involving HR as well as board policy and directives, etc. Specific job functions include:
- Onboard new employees to the district (certified and classified) including but not limited to required paperwork, experience verifications, background checks, etc.
- Complete background checks for new employes as well as maintain five-year clearances for current employees.
- Calculate salary/pay for new employees based on verification received.
- Ensure all certified staff are properly licensed and assist with licensing issues.
- Run TNCompass state reports as needed.
- Manually enter all Skyward Employee database changes for both new and current employees.
- Work closely with the Payroll Department to ensure employees are paid correctly.
- Communicate employee changes to all other respective departments to ensure they can also run their processes smoothly.
- Track and create yearly required online training for all employees.
- Knowledge of personnel file retention, creation, and accessibility.
- Main coordinator and contact for Frontline, the substitute teacher system.
- Answer unemployment requests from the state, including conducting appeals.
- Tracking tenure eligibility for those approaching tenure status as well as for those who have earned it.
- Create and maintain position control charts for all locations and positions in the district while ensuring we do not over hire.
- Cross training of other HR duties including but not limited to time off, sick bank, and workman's compensation.
- Provide excellent customer service to both current and prospective employees.
- Other duties as assigned.
Staff Relationship: Reports directly to the Director of Human Resources
Terms of Employment: Twelve (12) months, salary and benefits set annually. 35-40 hours a week. Non-Exempt.

Salary : $35,735 - $48,345
