Picture your day: you arrive at a world-class metals and automation site just outside Huntington, WV. You review the latest panel layouts, stage your conduit, and map out clean wire runs. By mid-morning you’re terminating into PLC I/O modules and terminal blocks, verifying continuity with a multimeter, and aligning proximity and limit switches so the line starts perfectly the first time. In the afternoon, you’re troubleshooting a control cabinet with minimal oversight, applying NEC/IEC best practices and locking out equipment per LOTO standards before handing off a neat, labeled system to commissioning.
What you’ll take on
- Install, bend, and secure flexible and rigid conduit for new control systems.
- Pull, route, organize, and label wiring (typical runs 30–40 ft).
- Terminate wiring into PLC I/O modules, terminal blocks, and junction boxes.
- Mount and align sensors, including limit and proximity switches.
- Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and panel layouts with precision.
- Test voltage and continuity using multimeters and document results.
- Work independently, troubleshoot efficiently, and uphold LOTO and electrical safety procedures.
Compensation & logistics
- Pay: $40–$45/hour (DOE)
- Per Diem: $120/day for hotel and meals
- Schedule: Full-time contract with overtime potential
- Duration: 6 months

Must-have experience
- 3 years of industrial electrical installation and troubleshooting.

- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
