POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Purchasing Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Purchasing

REPORTS TO: General Manager of Administrations

FLSA / SALARY BAND: Salary - Exempt

Position Summary

Purchasing Specialist maintains regular communication and visits to all suppliers, facilitates all supplier audits, provides support to all customer requirements, performs all supplier risk assessments, and maintains relationships with all suppliers. Design and implement various cost-effective strategies and ensure achievement of all targets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety rules and ISO requirements
  • Ensure that all of the ISO 14001 and ISO/IATF 16949 (including ISO 9001) standards, and company policies and procedures
  • Understand all quotes for new and existing automotive suppliers
  • Maintain regular visits to all suppliers, facilitate all supplier audits, and provide support to all customer requirements
  • Generate purchase orders and send to suppliers

· Assist in ensuring all IMDS submissions are up to date and accurate

· Provide supply chain information to our customers

· Complete Toyota & Honda diversity studies (Semi-Annually)

· Submit RFQs, process Purchase Orders, and receive all indirect materials into our ERP system as required

  • Assist in price and APR negotiations
  • Assist in supplier sourcing
  • Travel to suppliers overseas as needed
  • Resolve any invoice discrepancies between Suppliers & Accounting
  • Update and maintain “Schedule Order Pricing” in QAD
  • Serve as backup to MRO Purchasing Specialist (Tool Crib)
  • Track and complete Monthly saves tracking document
  • Attend various meetings (sometimes after hours via WebEx)
  • Responsible for other tasks assigned by the Purchasing Manager or General Manager

· May be required to be IATF certified.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

  • High School Diploma/GED Required
  • College Level Courses Preferred, or prior experience in a similar role preferred
  • 1 - 3 years Automotive Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages
  • Experience with Tariffs.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Excellent communication skills, both in written and oral communication, and organizational skills
  • The ability to write routine reports
  • Ability to use AI
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours

· Must be able to work in a team or individually

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software programs
  • Ability to work in and promote a team-based environment
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and projects

· Travel requirements: As required from time to time

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The Team Member is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Team Member must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
