Overview

Munro Defense is an engineering consulting firm serving the defense and aerospace sectors with a focus on manufacturing optimization, cost reduction, and facility performance improvement. We partner with clients to solve complex facilities challenges, optimize operations, and support the lifecycle management of critical infrastructure and real property.

We are seeking a Facilities Engineer who will work directly with clients to provide technical expertise, contractor oversight, and data-driven guidance across facility operations and property management programs. This role requires strong engineering judgment, polished communication skills, and the ability to lead technical projects in regulated defense and aerospace environments.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Technical Advisory

  • Serve as a trusted engineering consultant for defense and aerospace clients, driving improvements in facility operations, maintenance programs, and real property management.
  • Provide technical recommendations supporting manufacturing optimization, cost reduction, operational efficiency, and overall facility performance.
  • Represent Munro Defense during client meetings, program reviews, and technical discussions.
  • Prepare and deliver clear engineering reports, assessments, and presentations for client leadership.

Contract Oversight & Program Management

  • Act as a owner representative for client programs, overseeing contractor-executed planning, development, maintenance, and property disposition.
  • Evaluate contractor performance against cost, schedule, quality, and compliance requirements.
  • Utilize project management principles to plan, coordinate, and execute facility-related projects.
  • Review, approve, and verify contractor deliverables including reports, inspections, engineering findings, and operational data.

Real Property & Regulatory Compliance

  • Apply knowledge of federal, state, and local real property policies, rules, and regulations to guide client decisions.
  • Conduct or support negotiations with private landowners and governmental entities for easements, rights-of-way, licenses, leases, and permits.
  • Ensure real property actions comply with regulatory and documentation requirements.

Facilities Operations, Technical Evaluation & Risk Management

  • Conduct facility inspections, engineering analyses, and operational studies to evaluate equipment, infrastructure performance, and system efficiency.
  • Collect and analyze operational data and samples; perform engineering calculations and root-cause analyses.
  • Identify operational risks, deficiencies, and performance issues; provide actionable recommendations for corrective or preventive actions.
  • Prepare comprehensive engineering reports summarizing findings and improvement opportunities.

Program Coordination & Problem Resolution

  • Coordinate with client teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure effective program execution.
  • Interpret policies and technical guidance to resolve issues and maintain efficient facility operations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives targeting reduced costs, higher throughput, and optimized facility performance.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder is required due to the nature of client engagements in defense and aerospace.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in engineering consulting or client-facing technical roles.
  • Prior experience serving as a COR or conducting contractor oversight is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of real property regulations, easements, permitting, and land-use agreements.
  • Ability to perform facility inspections, engineering analyses, and risk assessments.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing environments or production facilities is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client-relationship skills.
  • Ability to travel to client sites as required.
