The Role
The Multnomah Athletic Club is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Accountant to join our Accounting and Finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing payroll, performing benefits reconciliations, troubleshooting payroll discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with pay and tax regulations. You will also handle quarter-end and year-end closing processes and balance sheet reconciliations. This is an in-person role (Monday - Friday) where attention to detail, problem-solving, and strong communication skills are key to supporting the company's payroll operations.

You will also handle quarter-end and year-end closing processes and balance sheet reconciliations. What You'll Do
- Payroll Processing & Troubleshooting: Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing by investigating and resolving discrepancies, including deductions, and collaborating with HR and Finance teams to maintain consistency and compliance within the HRIS system, Dayforce.
- Benefits Reconciliation: Reconcile various employee benefits, including health insurance, dental, vision, retirement plans, life insurance, and accident/illness benefits, ensuring deductions and contributions are correctly applied and taxed.
- Tax and Compliance: Maintain accurate tax records, review and update with new laws and regulations as needed. Review and resolve any issues with quarterly processing by HRIS system, Dayforce.
- Month-End, Quarter-End, and Year-End Processing: Prepare and maintain payroll-related reports and reconciliations for month-end close, quarterly filings, and year-end processing. This includes balance sheet reconciliations related to payroll, taxes, and benefits
- Collaboration: Work closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to coordinate payroll, benefits administration, and tax filing processes.
- System Maintenance: Ensure data integrity within the HRIS system, Dayforce , and assist as the subject matter expert with updates or changes as necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 2-3 years of payroll processing experience, including benefits reconciliation and tax compliance.
- Experience with Dayforce or a similar HRIS system is preferred.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus but not required.
- Strong knowledge of payroll and tax laws, including federal, state, and local regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data manipulation).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot payroll discrepancies.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and explain complex payroll-related topics.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, especially during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processing.
