What You’ll Do
Procurement & Sourcing
- Review material requirements and purchase requisitions (SAP, Power Apps, or manual requests) for accuracy, historical usage, and validity to determine optimal purchase quantities and vendor selection.
- Source new and existing components to achieve the best balance of quality, cost, and lead time for both current and future needs.
- Identify alternative components and new supplier sources for long‑lead or constrained materials to support production, service, and aftermarket teams.
- Determine procurement method (direct buy vs. bid), prepare purchase orders and bid requests, and negotiate pricing and terms within scope of authority and budget.
- Review bid proposals and support supplier selection based on quality, cost, delivery, and performance.
- Execute inter‑warehouse transfers as needed to support inventory and production requirements.
- Work with engineering drawings and specifications for bid submittals.
- Release and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and associated components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, change orders, and single‑level and multi‑level BOMs.
- Support custom and job‑shop manufacturing environments.
- Qualify new suppliers and maintain strong relationships with existing vendors to ensure consistent quality and supply continuity.
- Confer with vendors to obtain pricing, availability, and delivery schedules, leveraging market knowledge to assess value.
- Address defective or non‑conforming materials in collaboration with Quality, Engineering, and vendors to determine root cause and corrective actions.
- Expedite material deliveries to meet production and user requirements.
- Partner with manufacturing, receiving, quality, engineering, product management, sales, accounting, other buyers, and aftermarket/parts teams to ensure smooth information flow across the supply chain.
- Maintain accurate procurement records including pricing, delivery performance, inventory levels, and supplier metrics.
- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of supply chain operations.
Experience & Education
- 3–5 years of experience as a Purchasing Agent or Buyer in a manufacturing environment (custom manufacturing or job‑shop experience preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Basic understanding of supply chain and procurement concepts
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, engineering change orders, and Bills of Materials
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to interpret instructions presented in written, oral, diagram, or digital formats
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, and telephone skills
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
- Comfortable solving practical problems in environments with limited standardization
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience entering and maintaining data in ERP systems

- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

- $34.00/hr-$38.00/hr
