JOB POSITION: Literacy Coach (190 days) for the 2026-2027 School Year
LOCATION: TBD - School Level position
START DATE: July 27, 2026
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with district leadership on literacy and disciplinary literacy initiatives to ensure alignment with district goals.
- Collaborates with literacy and disciplinary literacy collaborative teams promoting implementation of professional learning communities, consistent use of an instructional framework, and research-based strategies.
- Works within the literacy and disciplinary departments to ensure vertical consistency in instruction aligned to Georgia standards.
- Provides professional learning to teachers on how to implement the core literacy academic programming to support the needs outlined in the school improvement plan.
- Provides professional learning to teachers to increase teacher effectiveness and to improve their ability to meet the diverse needs of students in literacy.
- Models literacy and disciplinary literacy instructional strategies with teachers and staff in classroom settings to meet the needs of students at all tiers of learning.
- Makes regular classroom visits to support instructional improvements through job-embedded professional learning, modeling, and providing feedback.
- Assists literacy and disciplinary literacy teachers in monitoring academic performance as follow-up to professional learning.
- Assists literacy and disciplinary literacy teachers and students in alignment of standards for the effective transition of students.
- Uses diagnostic assessment and data to identify and support struggling readers.
- Assists literacy and disciplinary literacy teachers with the interpretation of assessment results to support intervention, extension and remediation.
- Train, support and monitor the use of High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM).
- Ensures compliance with federal dyslexia laws.
- Maintains the confidentiality of the school, teachers, and students.
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
- Supports the philosophy and mission of the Bartow County School System
- Follows federal and state laws as well as Bartow County Board of Education policies
- Maintains prompt and regular attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:

· Must hold a valid Georgia teaching certificate · Minimum of three years’ experience in teaching · Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills; strong organizational skills · Experience in leading and facilitating groups; demonstrated communication skills |
