INSTRUCTIONAL STAFF ASSISTANTS (K-5)

LOCATIONS: 

Mesnier Primary (K-2)

Gotsch Intermediate (3-5)

DETAILS: 9.5-month support staff positions, with district-recognized holidays and paid sick and personal leave. Leave time may be prorated based on start date. These are full-time, 37.5 hours per week positions, with district provided benefits packages that include employee health, dental, life and vision insurance. 

COMPENSATION: According to the Support Staff Pay Schedule within the Certified Staff Assistant and Staff Assistant ranges. Those with a Teaching Certification will begin on Level G, Step 1 starting at $20.96 hourly. Those with a Substitute Certification will begin on Level B, Step 1 starting at $16.74 hourly. Placement within the ranges on the 2026-27 Support Staff Pay Schedule are determined by like experience and education.

JOB SUMMARY: To assist the administration by providing support to school educational programs through providing appropriate classroom supports, activities and learning environment in order that students may learn effectively and experience a smoothly functioning program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required
• In addition to a high school diploma, one of the following is required to obtain a Substitute Certification:

1. 60 college credit hours,
2. Associate’s degree or higher,
3. Missouri ParaPro Assessment passing score (before September 23, 2013),
4. Missouri Paraprofessional Assessment passing score (after September 23, 2013), or
5. Completed Missouri’s 20-hour online substitute training program

Pursuant to DESE requirements, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) supports the 20-hour substitute training program as an allowable qualification for paraprofessionals who meet the requirements found in the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) (PL 107-110). 

• Missouri Teaching Certification preferred.
• Experience working in a school setting preferred.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, email, etc is preferred.
• Experience working with office equipment preferred.
• Excellent attendance.
• The ability to listen well and respond to questions from students in a professional manner is required.
• The ability to redirect and interact positively with students is required.
• The ability to work independently, use good judgment, think quickly, and respond to situations in a calm, caring manner is required.
• The ability to remain flexible & positive with the demands of the job without losing sight of the mission, task or assignment is required.
• The ability to work as a team player, communicate and collaborate with staff is required.
• The ability to develop effective working relationships with students and the school community is required.
• The ability to work with a multi-ethnic, multicultural student population is required.
• The willingness to learn new material and, as needed, attend professional development is required.
