Elementary School Teacher (Multiple Subject, Bilingual - English/Spanish)

Multicultural Learning Center Elementary Bilingual (Spanish/English) Teacher    The Multicultural Learning Center currently has an opening for an Elementary Bilingual Teacher. We are looking for an individual that will conduct themselves in a professional manner and is willing to learn from others as well as share his/her knowledge with other staff members.The Multicultural Learning Center (MLC) is a K-8 public charter school located in Canoga Park, CA with the mission of bringing together a diverse community of learners where cultural and individual differences are the building blocks of academic, social, and interpersonal success. Our Spanish/English dual language model allows children of both language backgrounds to learn side-by-side gaining respect of each other's cultures and learning to communicate in each other's languages.MLC teaching staff demonstrates responsibility and accountability for meeting the goals of the educational program. Annual group and individual professional goals are identified and assessed through a Peer Review Process. As members of the MLC faculty, teachers are encouraged to maintain a professional growth plans and portfolios and to affiliate with professional educational organizations.MLC offers an educational program that meets the learning needs of all students through: • Bilingual Education and Literacy in Spanish and English• A thematic curriculum that encourages creativity, hands-on learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving.• The use of visual and performing arts as a tool for building literacy and multicultural understanding.• Employing a staff that successfully works together to embrace the best practices in teaching and learning.• Supporting a school community that includes teachers, staff, parents, students, and community partners to enhance each students educational experienceRequirements Individual Requirements: • High level of literacy in both English and Spanish • California Credential with a BCLAD • Lifelong learner with a collaborative spirit • Experience with bilingual instructionInstructional Requirements: • Engage and support all students in learning • Create and maintain effective environments for student learning • Understand and organize subject matter for student learning • Plan instruction and design learning experiences for all students • Assess student learning Professional Growth Requirements:• Welcome open inquiry and peer feedback and review • Attend school staff development and staff meetings • Collect and analyze student data to improve the school-wide instructional program School-wide Requirements: • Participate on school governance committees and decision-making process • Actively maintain open and ongoing communication with parents • Ensure health and safety of students and staff • Recruit and retain students and families to the dual immersion program • Collaborate with all staff to maintain a culture of respect and honest and open communication • Promote MLC philosophy and goalsTeachers must be fluent in both English and Spanish and possess academic level vocabulary and syntax expertise in both languages. We are seeking teachers with a constructivist teaching methodology.
