What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary School Substitute Teacher position at CROSSROADS SCHOOL FOR ARTS & SCIENCES?
We are currently accepting applications for K-5 substitute teachers in general education and in specialty subjects (art, music, dance, drama, science, physical education, Spanish, and technology).
Essential Job Functions
- Applicants should be responsible, well organized, flexible and able to substitute on campus as NEEDED on the day of or night before the assignment
- Applicants should have a mobile device and be confident in the use of the device for email and text communications
- Comfortable in all aspects of classroom management
- Be able to follow and implement lesson plans
- Write a brief report to the teacher at the end of the day’s assignment
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required
- Experience working with elementary school-aged children in a school, childcare, daycare, or similar educational setting
Physical Demands
- Standing all day, moving about the classroom, outdoor supervision to monitor students, and sitting during certain periods
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs
- Ability to climb stairs while supervising students
Required Training:
All newly hired employees are required to complete the following mandatory trainings within their first 30 days of employment:
- Harassment Prevention Training
- Workplace Violence Prevention Training
- Mandated Reporter Training
Failure to complete these required trainings within the designated timeframe may result in corrective action, up to and including suspension of work duties until compliance is achieved.
