Junior Lifeguard

• Have the ability to confidently assist with private swim lessons as well as small group lessons
• Helps to prevent injury by enforcing pool rules 
• Act as part of the rescue team in the event of any emergency while on duty at the aquatic facility
• Must attend the preseason in-service training

• Patience and respect when communicating with young children and their parents
• The ability to maintain emotional stability and self-control
• The ability to take direction from lead lifeguards and instructors
• Understanding the facilities EAP and being prepared to use it

• Acquire CPR/First Aid certification prior to working a shift
  • The ideal candidate will have completed a junior lifeguarding program
• Must be at least 14 years of age or in high school
• Must be able to pass a background check or secure a work permit if still in high school

Physical Demands:

• Must have the ability to swim 400 yards in 10 minutes, 30 seconds.
• Must be able to tread water for 2 minutes without use of arms.
• Must be able to assist in removing a victim from the water using a backboard.
