Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Commercial Driver's License (CDL) A Truck Driver to join our transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating tractor-trailers and various specialized trucks to deliver freight efficiently across regional and over-the-road (OTR) routes. Your expertise in handling flatbeds will ensure timely deliveries while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including flatbeds, across designated routes while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Plan routes to optimize delivery schedules and ensure timely arrivals at multiple destinations.
- Load and unload freight manually or with equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, ensuring proper handling of freight.
- Transport a variety of cargo including reightlumber, floor trusses, and roof trusses, handling tasks across over-the-road (OTR) driving routes.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, and delivery records in compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or safety concerns.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving with flatbed transport preferred.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazardous materials regulations, DOT standards, and safety protocols for dangerous goods handling.
- Experience with route driving using GPS navigation systems for efficient delivery planning.
- Ability to manually handle freight safely using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or manual handling techniques when necessary.
- Familiarity with truck loading/unloading procedures including freight management for logistics cargo handling.
- Strong understanding of truck driving operations including tractor-trailer maneuvering, load securing, and vehicle maintenance checks.
