What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Programmer position at Mull Group?
Mull Group is a third-generation, family-owned industrial manufacturer that has been building and rebuilding heavy equipment in the Upper Ohio Valley since 1961. We're looking for a CNC Programmer who likes a challenge and wants to see their programs turn into real parts on our floor.
This isn't a high-volume production shop where you write one program and run it for months. Our work is mostly repair, rebuild, and custom jobs, so you'll program something new most days and solve problems that don't come with an easy answer.
What you'll do
- Program in GibbsCAM. You'll create and edit CNC programs for our mills and lathes from prints, sketches, and worn sample parts.
- Plan the job. You'll choose tooling, workholding, feeds, speeds, and machining sequences to get parts made right and efficiently.
- Support the floor. You'll work with machinists to prove out programs, fix problems at the machine, and improve cycle times.
- Keep the system current. Our ERP is simple and easy to use. Paperwork is minimal.
- Own quality. You'll make sure programs match the print and that parts leave our shop right the first time.
What you bring
- 5 years of CNC programming experience in a machine shop
- Hands-on experience with GibbsCAM, or strong experience with another CAM system and a willingness to learn GibbsCAM
- Solid knowledge of G-code and the ability to edit programs at the machine
- Strong blueprint reading skills, including GD&T
- Knowledge of tooling, workholding, and machining practices for mills and lathes
- A problem-solver who can look at a worn part and work out how to make it new again
Nice to have
- Hands-on CNC machinist or setup experience
- Multi-axis or mill-turn programming experience
- Experience with large parts, heavy-equipment repair, or one-off jobs
- CAD/3D modeling skills
- Experience machining alloy steel, cast iron, and bronze
Why Mull Group
- Stability. We've been family-owned for three generations and have been here over 60 years.
- Real work. Every job is different, so you won't be programming the same part all day.
- Pay and benefits. We offer competitive pay, health, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and holidays.
- Room to grow. We are always looking for the next generation foreman and leaders.
