Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Sushi Helper to join our team. The Sushi Helper supports our sushi chefs with daily preparation and back-of-house operations. This role is essential to ensure smooth service, consistent food quality, and a clean, organized kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing ingredients (washing, cutting, portioning, marinating, labeling).
• Set up and maintain sushi prep stations.
• Prepare basic rolls, sides, and garnishes as instructed by the chef.
• Cook and season sushi rice following established recipes.
• Maintain cleanliness of workstations, knives, equipment, and storage areas.
• Receive, check, and organize seafood deliveries and dry goods.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and restaurant policies.
• Support sushi chefs during service with plating, prep, and refills.
• Assist with end-of-day cleaning and closing duties.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year of sushi experience (restaurant or sushi bar preferred).
• Knife skills and familiarity with fish handling.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong work ethic with attention to detail.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Passion for Japanese food or culinary arts is a plus.
