Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Kitchen Helper to join our team at Tokyo Feng Ramen and Sushi in El Cerrito. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience preparing Japanese cuisine—especially ramen, kitchen items, and other traditional dishes—and a strong focus on consistency, quality, and teamwork. Responsibilities
- Oversee daily food preparation and cooking for ramen and other menu items.
- Follow established recipes while ensuring freshness, consistency, and quality in every dish.
- Assist with menu development, including daily specials and seasonal items.
- Notify management when supplies are needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen while meeting all food safety requirements.
- Train and support kitchen staff when needed, encouraging teamwork and efficiency.
- Help minimize food waste while keeping portions and costs under control.
- Collaborate with owners and front-of-house staff to provide the best possible dining experience.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a kitchen role, preferably in sushi, ramen, or other Japanese cooking.
- Valid California Food Handler Card or ServSafe certification (required).
- Strong kitchen skills and knowledge of safe food handling practices.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently during busy service hours.
- Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to work as part of a small team.
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Experience with menu planning or kitchen management.
- Creativity in developing new dishes or specials.
- Bilingual skills (English/Japanese or English/Chinese or English/Spanish).
